Assault and theft at CBD business


Police are investigating an assault and theft at a business in the CBD last month that left a staff member with minor injuries.

Investigators have been told a man entered the Russell Street store with his bicycle about 8.30pm on 7 May.

He looked at items in the store before leaving then returned a short time later, stole clothing and left without paying.

As the man exited the store, he has activated the security alarms getting the attention of the manager and a male staff member who approached him.

As the staff member approached, the man has become aggressive and assaulted him before running away in an unknown direction.

This assault has caused a minor injury to the victim’s face.

The offender was wearing an orange jumper on his first visit then came back wearing a blue and red jacket.

Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
