Roads closed around city as work ramps up in CBD

news, local-news,

Orange City Council is asking for patience from motorists in the coming weeks with a raft of road closures, for varying reasons. Lords Place will be closed on Sunday between Kite and Summer streets, for northbound traffic only, as private contractor continues work on a building in the area. The closure will be from 7am to 11.30am. The final stages of council’s Future City upgrade in the McNamara Street area will result in the stretch of road between Summer and Kite streets being closed for a couple of days. That part of McNamara Street will close on Monday, June 28 and, weather permitting, reopen the coming Wednesday, June 30. McNamara Street businesses will be open as normal during that period and Orange mayor Reg Kidd encouraged residents to continue to support those businesses throughout the closures. Further from the Central Business District, the Cecil Road rail bridge remains closed until July 10. John Holland has been working on an upgrade of the bridge but has informed Orange City Council the upgrade has been delayed because of a timber shortage. The detours remain in place until at least July 10. Our journalists work hard to provide local, up-to-date news to the community. This is how you can continue to access our trusted content:
